Why do we do this?
When a toddler is learning to walk...and while trusting her body with limited understanding and experience she makes a misstep, and falls down...
Do you berate her? Criticize her? Shame her? Condemn her to a life of crawling?
When you are learning to do another part or phase of life...and while trusting yourself with limited understanding and experience you make a misstep, and fall down...
Do you berate yourself? Criticize yourself? Shame yourself? Condemn yourself to a life of failure, of staying stuck?
I hope not, but if you do...just know you’re not the first, Sister and you won’t be the last. Full disclosure, I was a regular to the self-shame party.
But I want to offer you an alternative. What if you nurtured your adult self the same way you would a toddler learning to walk?
What if you chose kindness, encouragement, praise, and hope?
What if you changed how you show up for yourself?
What could you accomplish then?
